CEREMONIAL

CACAO

In Mayan times, drinking chocolate was one of the privilege of high status individuals as it was considered Food of the Gods. Ceremonial cacao is a drinkable elixir prepared with intention and infused with herbs and spices such cayenne, ginger, maca root, mesquite and baobab. Though a form plant medicine, Cacao does not have hallucinogenic or “out of body” effects, unlike her distant plant spirit relatives.

Each ceremony is different and will often include breath work, dance or meditation, which allows the cacao to activate within the heart and body to create deep transformation. A Cacao ceremony will be an experiential course in accessing higher dimensional aspects of self and learning through that presence. Through this sacred medicine we attune ourselves to a higher vibration by creating a coherent vibration in the field of our heart, and this practice may serve you as a continuous remembrance of Love, Balance and Unfolding.

Use Cacao mass / paste for ceremonial drinking cacao or for making cacao chocolates.

CACAO AS A

PSYCHOACTIVE

Raw cacao is rich in a phytonutrient known as a flavanol. Flavanols have been shown in numerous studies to improve blood flow to the brain. Cacao contains serotonin and tryptophan. Both of these chemicals have been linked to reduced symptoms of depression.

While not psychedelic, Cacao is a psychoactive medicine, which means that it stimulates your nervous system leading to improved brain function, optimizing concentration, memory, processing speed and enhancing mental performance. It’s active stimulant is Theobromine.

Common effects after drinking in may be primarily somatic (cellular), elevated heart rate, emotional elation (it is a mood enhancer after all), slight nausea and what we call “Cacao tears”. As with all plant medicines, there may be a form purging as the medicine assists you to release stuck emotions and this may result in crying. This is it the epitome of flow and letting go. The more you allow and drop into your heart space, the more you will release and integrate.

SACRED CACAO

JOURNEYS

Gathering together to drink Cacao can create space for healing, connection and heart centered living. Cacao ceremonies are helpful with getting clarity, setting intentions, doing inner work and anchoring into your heart space. Cacao won’t force you on a journey or share with you a vision you don’t consciously ask for and co-create. This journey is one of heart based connection and co-creation. Sitting with Mama IxCacao is a heart-centered journey in which all are asked to participate and bring their own empowered heart into the container, and hold space for their own healing journey. You will be encouraged to open your voice and transform your being through heart-centred authentic expression, through the beauty and light of your own inner truth.
